Poker equity represents your average share of the pot across all remaining community card runouts.
How pre-flop and post-flop odds work
This calculator simulates Texas Hold'em runouts at any street: pre-flop (0 board cards), on the flop (3 cards), on the turn (4 cards), or on the river (5 cards). Because incomplete boards offer thousands or millions of possible card combinations, fast client-side Monte Carlo simulations (1,000 to 25,000 trials) deal the remaining cards, evaluate best 5-card hands, and tally exact win percentages and split-pot equity with verified statistical precision.
Why river odds require a single player
When all five community cards are dealt and multiple players have revealed hole cards, showdown is 100% fixed—no unknown cards remain to simulate. For a completed multi-player showdown, use the Poker Hand Evaluator to find the winner and best hand. On the river, the odds calculator allows you to enter a single player's hand to calculate showdown equity against random opponent holdings.
Understanding equity vs. win rate
Win rate is how often a player wins the pot outright. Equity accounts for both outright wins and shared pots. For example, if two players hold identical starting hands or both hit the same nut straight, outright win percentage drops because ties are frequent, but each retains equal ~50% pot equity.
